I have been a Ski Pro, teaching and coaching, for almost 20 years. My greatest satisfaction is guiding an athlete or client past perceived limitations or to a new understanding. Having a client come to me after a session to express the joy of a new sensation is one of the truest pleasures of my professional life. As the lines between skiing and physical preparation became blurred, I began searching for the best methods available for developing athletes and for achieving optimum health and fitness. Sharing that search with others is an endeavor which I pursue with the same passion and enthusiasm as my ski coaching.
I have been involved with physical culture since my early teens when I was introduced to weight training by my grandfather, who was doing his best to keep me out of trouble. We trained together for many years and I look back on that time as a precious gift and a valuable foundation for the course of my life. Since then I have explored many avenues of physical culture, and have also experienced periods of inactivity and its inevitable results. And although my training remained a cornerstone of my life, I realized not so long ago that my training has not always been entirely intelligent in terms of long term wear and tear on my body. Luckily, abou thtis time I ran across Circular Strength Training (link) (CST). Through CST I learned that I could consistently push my edge and achieve my goals without compromising my health and my pain free enjoyment of life.
Since my discovery of CST, all my paradigms have changed. What I used to consider fit, I now consider slightly out of shape. Eating habits that I used to think were good, I have come to understand in a new light through the understanding of its effects on human biochemistry. Exercises that I once thought of as staples I now recognize as unsophisticated and gross in nature. I move now, at the age of 36, with an ease of movement that I have not felt since I was in my teens.
I have since added a certification in Circular Strength Training to my qualifications as a National Strength and Conditioning Association - Certified Personal Trainer and my Level 3 accreditation from the National Coaching Certification Program (Canada). I also hold the highest level of certification (Level 4) of the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance and am a Course Conductor and Examiner at that same Level 4 certification.
I love coaching client athletes (armchair or elite) to breakthrough their perceived barriers to reach and maintain that last 10% that always seemed to be just out of reach. Feedback from those with whom I have worked and continue to work has been outstanding, and fuels my passion to continue updating my education both formally and informally. I am having tremendous fun on my journey and hope you will want to become a part of it.
